Work done on a number of parts of Mai-Star II

Making a new box for the New switch panel for the boat.

The new switch panel ready to go in the box once it is finished and shaped up to fit and then take to the boat to fit to bulkhead.
The first two port holes dry fitted on the starboard side
The two on the port side done as well and now just the two front ones to do.

The stem is now cleaned out and the fixing are removed and it is a matter of cleaning out the inside behind the plank ends from inside and the refitting them to the stem with fresh screws and sealant to make it watertight again.

Work on a number of boats at the same time at the moment

At the moment it is busy at J-Star Boats as we get a number of different project underway for different owners. A couple of Shetland cruisers in need of a bit of TLC and a good compounding and polishing of the hulls and topsides and a revamp of the interiors. Then there is the New Mai-Star Class of dinghy that needs finishing off with the last two planks making and fitting to the moulds before it as its ribs fitted and the fitting out done with the fitting of the thwarts, seats, the centreboard made and fitted and the gunwales and the stringers and finally the mast and spars made and the sail.

While all this is going on working on Mai-Star II and getting her ready to go back in the water for August.

If this was not enough going to Derbyshire to do some major restoration work on a motorboat with a badly rotten port side, no job is too big for the team as we can and will tackle any number of different jobs as the team have come across many of them in the past.

New project for the next few months.

A new restoration project for the next few months, in need of a bit more than just a bit of TLC. Major plank removal and a new section of chine to put in the port side aft and a fair few planks on the topsides and the bottom

Previous patch jobs done by a former owner
Most of the hull above the waterline is in good condition apart from the couple of areas where weather and boxed in areas have done
Half of the planking that needs to come from the port side aft area of the boat. the forward part is in good condition.

Photo showing some of the bottom planks being removed as this is where the major part of the rot was in the bottom in the area of the boat that was closed in and was damp.

A large section of planking coming out of the port side, but thankfully not a lot is wrong with the starboard side.
