Hardy 25 refit, some of the smaller items getting done around the poor weather outside

While we can not work outside on the boat, it gives us time to get on with some of the smaller jobs in the refit, such as repairing the shower tray by fitting in the large hole in the shower tray that is not needed any longer as there is not a sea toilet fitted any longer to the boat. 

Another job that as been done over the space of a few days is the re-varnishing of many of the trims from the main cabin and the cockpit which are getting lots of coats of varnish before being re-fixed in position when the bulkheads and other parts go back into the cabin. 

The cockpit step boards getting their coats of white marine gloss before getting the centre sections painted with non slip paint and then re-fitted in the cockpit.

The pile of bulkheads all ready to be fitted back into the cabin after the hull and side linings are re-glued and the new windows and rubbers fitted and the windows have been sealed.  

 

The Morgan Giles 30 turning Orange again, although it is a different shade this time round

After a long time of preparing the hull it was finally time to start paint the Morgan Giles 30 to the new colour the owner wish to have the yacht painted.  even with just the first coat on the coverage from grey it excellent and it is going to have a few more coats on before it final coat near to when it leaves the workshop.

Once the hull as had a few more coats of paint the superstructure and decks will get their paint and then all the deck fittings can be put on the decks. 

 

Starting to make the new surround round the engine bay of the speedboat, the first job is to strengthen the thin plywood panels on each side of the engine bay so that hinges can be set into the outboard ends of the hatch opening

Having re-design the engine bay opening the outboard edges need strengthening to make them about fit large hinges to the outboard face of the engine bay.

This pattern is the cab=mber the hatch lids are going to have when they are made with laminated hatch beams.

 

Getting the first of the top coats on the cockpit step boards and the cabin shelves

 The toilet compartment platform for the Potti loo getting the underside painted for the first time, this time it will be sealed against any spills in the toilet compartment 

The undersides of all the cockpit step boards and the cabin step inside faces so that they are sealed against any water that get over them. 

One of the fore cabin shelves getting its final coat of brown paint to get them back to their as new condition. 

The waterline masked up ready and now its time to do the toe rails in the same way and then it will be time to paint the hull orange again.

Now the waterline as been sanded back to a smooth edge is was time to mask up the waterline for the last time before the first top coat of orange paint is applied to the hull.

Now comes the point we have all been working towards getting the top coats of paint on the hull.

This will be the first time in almost three years the hull will be back to its orange coloured hull.
