Work on moving the Morgan Giles 30 across the workshop so it can be painted with access all round the hull.

Setting out the chain blocks to set up the moving of the cradle across the workshop.

A sling round the base of the cradle after all the cradle wheels were turned to make the cradle move in the correct direction when the chain blocks were tensioned up.

Using the shed posts that are set deep in the ground,they are good points to put the other end of the chain blocks. 

Now the boat is moved across there good access all the way round the boat and make possible to paint the hull.

 

Un-masking the waterline and toe rail ready to sand these areas, before re-masking the two areas before masking up boat to paint the hull.

Removing the masking tape, so the waterline can be sanded back to a smooth edge,so there is not a step in the paint coat between the bottom and topside paint system.

Just got to get rid of rest of the blue masking tape  and then get the fine sandpaper out to smooth the edge between the two paint systems.

All the waterline tape removed and now time to un-mask the toe rail and then it will be possible to sand the top edge under the toe rail.

The toe rail now un-masked and just needs a wipe down to get rid of the old glue from the masking tape before we are ready to remask this area and the top edge of the hull is sanded smooth.

 

The long job of sanding down the cabin side edges of the epoxy primer to make the edge smooth and be ready to be masked up ready to put the final coat of epoxy primer on the decks.

A long job on your knees as you sand along the cabin side edge to smooth the edge of the epoxy primer before the area is re-masked yp to get ready to apply the final coat of epoxy primer to the deck of the Morgan Giles 30

While doing the work it also gives us chance to highlight any areas that final fine filling 

 

The Cockpit step boards and main cabin step getting primed and the bulkheads getting their first gloss coats where the lockers are

The cockpit step boards from the aft end of the cockpit getting their first coats of yacht primer before a bit of filling fairing takes place and then they will be painted with coats of non slip paint to get them safer to step on when getting into the cockpit.

The panel in this photo is the shelf under the galley area which will be paint white to lighten up the inside of the locker under the galley

                             

This is the underside of the panel which the Potti Loo stands on when this is boated down in place when the shower tray base is fitted back in the toilet compartment.

The bulkheads which have areas where there are lockers are having these areas painted white to help lighten the areas where these bulkheads form part of lockers under the side decks or are one side of the locker under the galley top and makes the locker lighter and easier to find items in these areas 

These bulkheads are now getting their full strength yacht varnish as part of their transformation from tried old varnished bulkheads to bulkheads that look like new bulkheads once more.  

 

Next week back to the varnishing production line and the headlining panels get recovered.

After a week's holiday, it is now time to get back to the varnishing production line and the week will see these bulkheads get their full strength varnish before the bulkheads get refitted in the boat and have their final coats when the bulkheads are in their final position.

This first bulkhead was the bulkhead in the cockpit which was in a very poor condition and it has been saved and brought back to life and looks like it was when it was first fitted in the boat. 

The toilet compartment bulkhead which has had the same treatment and is once again looking like it was when the boat was first built.

The galley/ toilet bulkhead getting a repaint in the area of the galley unit so to bring a light and airy space under the galley unit rather than a dark space which it was before.

The shower tray unit which is in need a a bit of TLC and fibreglass repairs before refitting in the toilet compartment

The main hatch and some of the smaller panels which came out of the main cabin which are getting a re-varnishing before they are refitted in the cabin once the cabin linings are fitted and the main bulkheads are refitted.
