The start of Stage two, getting the hull linings glued on to the hull and finishing off the cabin side linings.

The cabin side linings all now glued up under the side decks and the tops of the hull linings glued to make the linings complete from deckhead to the bottom edge of the side of the hull.

The hardest part was getting the linings to glue up under the side decks and to get the top edges of the hull linings to meet in a neat line.

The hull now completed and the bunk fronts to do next after running the water pipe from the water pump in the port bow locker and round to the galley area and under the shower tray to the hot water tank under the cockpit floor.

The pile of carpets are getting smaller, although it does not look like at the moment.

the front lining back up in position just got to glue the linings under the decks.

Finally the port side lining glued back in position and now the turn of the hull linings and then the bulkheads can start to go back in position.

The start of the refitting of the Hardy 25

The first bulkhead to go back into the Hardy 25 is the port side cockpit to cabin bulkhead and now the linings can start to get glued back into the boat.

The cockpit step boards back in the cockpit and ready to be used once more.

The olny job to do in the cockpit is to remove all the old foam off the hull and so the new linings can be glued in position.

The shower tray now back in the boat, just needs a couple of supports to keep it in position.

The first three cabin side linings in position ready to be glued back on the cabin sides and once the carpets are glued on the hull the rest of the bulkheads can get fixed back in position.

Getting the cabin ready to reline out with side and carpet linings

The first job to do is clean off all the old foam and old glue from the cabin sides and hull.

Now with a cover over the top of the boat it is going to be possible to remove the windows out of the cabin sides and get new windows made while we reline the cabin sides.

The surface of the the cabin sides and hull will need a gentle wire wheeling to get rid of  any small bits of old glue and foam and then be able to get to grips with relining the cabin.

While the linings are not in place it will give us a chance to put the new water pipes and fix the water pump back in place and fit the inspection hatch for the water tank as well.

Another job to do while the boat interior is not in place is to refix the fuel tank and sort out the hot water tank under the cockpit floor.

Getting through the headlining panels for the hardy 25, Next job to line the cabin sides and hull out

First start off with the smaller panels to get my hand back into covering the panels before making a start on the larger panels

One of the larger panels and the biggest of them all the two cockpit roof headlining panels

The next job to tackle cleaning down the hull and cabin sides and then fitting any holes that were put into the hull and cabin sides that should not be there.

Friday, 10 November 2023

The water tank finally getting a inspection hatch is should have had when it was made originally.

The bow water tank getting an inspection hatch it should have been fitted with when it was originally made.

Apart from a little bit of wood dust from cutting the hatch out the tank is very clean inside after 30 years after it was made.

The hatch placed where the tank can be cleaned in future and kept a eye of the condition of the inside.

A day spend sorting out parts of the Hardy 25, so we can make headway on getting the cabin sides relined and the carpets lings back in place.

One of the jobs that has been needed to be sorted was the wiring behind the steering consul, now the wiring that was not longer needed has been removed the area in a lot clearer and we can now start to make inroads into sorting out what is needed to be there and what is surplus to the boats needs from now on.

The vast space of the inside of a Hardy 25 with all the inside furniture removed and the linings as well, just got to remove the old foam backing off the hull and cabin sides and then will be able to start putting linings back in place and then the bulkheads.

Some of the old wiring that is not needed any longer and can be recycled

The cockpit linings now getting removed and soon be time to reline the area again with its new lnings

Now for the bing clean up and bag up the rubbish to be removed from the boat.

Monday, 6 November 2023

Then came the turn of the carpet linings for the fore and main cabins of the Hardy 25.

Having cut all the side and head ling panels it was time to label up the material so that they can be glued on to the correct panels.

Get the old carpet  material and laying on the new material and making sure to try and fit the parts together to make best use of the material.

Cutting out the material for the new cabin side linings and head lining materials to recover the cabin head lining panels

One of the major jobs done today was to cut out the material to cover the side and head lining material to recover the panels to which will make up the linings for the cabin of the Hardy 25.

The first job was to lay out the old side lining material and make sure it was the correct size before cutting out the new material to make the side lining panel and make sure it was cut over sized just in case the old material was under cut the first time round.

Having made sure of the size cutting out the new material to make up the side lining panels to be glued in position.

Then came the turn of the head lining panels and the same thing done here over sized again.

Steady progress on the Hardy 25 refit

Some of the repairs have been to fill in old holes in some units that are no longer needed such as the hole on the shower tray that were there because the boat originally had a sea toilet fitted which is no longer needed by the new owner.

This the underside of the unit with the hole filled in with gelcoat and matting and resin and now just needs sanding back and flow coating to seal the surface of the new fibreglass and seal the rest of the underside of the shower tray.

The cockpit step boards now all sanded back in the centre  now ready to have their first coats of non slip paint

The first coats of paint on the cockpit step boards, just a couple more coats to build up the layers and add more non slip protection under foot.

The trims now getting their final thinned coats of varnish and now ready to have their first coats before being fitted back on the boat when the bulkheads and doors go back on the boat.

Put to one side while we get on with other jobs such as headlinings panels that need recovering.

Thursday, 2 November 2023

The morgan Giles all rubbed down and just needs a few dry days with low humidity to get the next few coats of paint applied.

Having given the paint a couple of days to cure it was time to flatten back the paint so that the new few coats of paint can be applied.

As the paint manufacturers said to us, the first coats of paint are to build up the coverage, but it will take a few coats to get a good build up of colour that will be the same all over the hull. however, the first coat did cover quite well and look forward to using more of the paint in the future.

Hardy 25 refit, some of the smaller items getting done around the poor weather outside

While we can not work outside on the boat, it gives us time to get on with some of the smaller jobs in the refit, such as repairing the shower tray by fitting in the large hole in the shower tray that is not needed any longer as there is not a sea toilet fitted any longer to the boat.

Another job that as been done over the space of a few days is the re-varnishing of many of the trims from the main cabin and the cockpit which are getting lots of coats of varnish before being re-fixed in position when the bulkheads and other parts go back into the cabin.

The cockpit step boards getting their coats of white marine gloss before getting the centre sections painted with non slip paint and then re-fitted in the cockpit.

The pile of bulkheads all ready to be fitted back into the cabin after the hull and side linings are re-glued and the new windows and rubbers fitted and the windows have been sealed.
