Now that the rain as stopped we can get on with of the outside jobs that have not been able to get on with

Now that the rain as stopped or at least that's what the forecast says. We may well be area to get on with some of the other jobs we have not been able to do for one reason or another.

The first of these jobs is to refit the pulpit and pushpit on the Morgan Giles 30 and then be able to fit the guard wire all the way round the boat and be able to work on deck safely.

The original holes are bit misaligned and will have to be  repositioned a little and the old holes filled.

Back in the engine bay the pipe for the inlet will have to be cut shorter and be double hose clipped and then the area round the stern tube will have to be cut back a small amount to let the new inside fitting to go back to the correct position.

We will have to make a small platform to fit the water lock for the engine exhaust system to sit on and the run th new exhaust pipe from there to the lazarette locker and the swam neck fitting in the locker before it goes out through the transom exhaust fitting.

Then we can get on with sanding the bottom patch for the gelshield coating to go on to finish off the epoxy protection on the underside of the hull.

 

Working on the Fairline Carberra we have in the boatyard at present for a refit and to have the engine put back in the engine after a major rebuild of the engines.

Having cleaned off all the old cabin linings which were in a poor condition it was time to clean the whole area ready to put back the headlining panels and reline the walls of the under cockpit sleeping cabin.

This was the first half of the floor and sides getting a good cleaning.

The two side panels refitted after having to cut holes in the side linings to get at the old 240-volt wiring which ws household grade wire and not marine grade which it is replaced with now and the 240-volt wiring is up to spec.

A few hours work and it is looking a whole lot better and just have to refit the engine shift cables back and the hole of this area can be refitted and it can look like it did before apart from being relinined with carpet side linings.

The whole of the area cleaned and ready to go.

Time to have fun relining the cabin and lining out the area and putting it back to together.

 

Back to work on the Morgan Giles 30

After a bit of time away from The Morgan Giles 30 it is time to get on with a number of the jobs which are still to do on her over the winter months. Firstly get the stanchions and lifelines back in position so that we can work on the deck safely without out the risk of falling off the boat.

Another job that needed doing was to refit the rudder back in place so that the tiller block and other fitting could be refitted and any adjustments made to get the tiller and steering sorted so that the rudder was fitting on its bearing correctly.

The propeller shaft and propeller are now refitted and so that the engine installation can be started. 

The first job on the inside is to finish off fitting the parts that need to go in before the engine itself can be craned into position.

 

Starting to sort out this mess, then make sense of this.

First remove all the loose items to get to the bottom of the engine bay and make sense of what we have to sort out first.

Sort out what is any good and replace what is needed to be renewed with up to date equipment.

These fuel lines will need renewing with new copper pipes so that they are both the same size.

Someone did a good job on the gear shift and throttle cables cutting them off with a pair of bolt croppers  

 

Fairline weekender in for her to engines to be put back in and the rest of the engine room to sort out.

Now that the Morgan Giles 30 as left the yard the cradle is being repurposed for our latest project, the refit the original engines back into this Fairline weekender. 

The boat safely on the cradle ready to be worked on over the next few weeks. 

The business end of the outdrives. these need a bit of work before these are ready to have the legs fitted back on to the boat.
