Finish fitting the hatch surround and Start to fit and make up the sliding main hatch rails and the washboard rails

Finished fitting the main hatch surround so the the hatch can be positioned in the correct place to slide along the sliding hatch rails when they are made up

The repaired hatch just needed of trimming to make it fit over the new hatch surround 

Now that the new hatch surround is in position, it can be worked out how much the wedge piece at the forward end of the new hatch rails as to be to make the new sliding hatch rails let the hatch slide along the rails 

The old washboards which are going to be patterns to make the new set and also how the washboards were originally fitted to the boat 

Fitting the outer set of washboard rails 

This spirit level shows how much the curve of the deck is in the run of the sliding hatch 

The outer set of hatch rails dry fitted 

Now it is time to start making the long sliding hatch rails, once I get the teak to make them up 

Sorting out the cockpit gutter and the main hatch runners

Having made up a length of dowel to press the moulding clay round the it was ready to gelcoat the moulding clay, so that I can start to lay up the missing CSM from the area. 

Having made up the two side rails for the main hatch to slide on it was time to dry fix in position so that the rest of the main hatch sliding rails can be made up and the cross rail can be fitted 

Thecross part as to be made up and fitted in the gap between the fore and aft rails 

Mai Star II's latest refit project

The major work is on the port side, This side as a broken gunwale / beam shelf which needs removing and a new section making and fitting in position.

The cabin front deck beam needs removing as well as both ends are either missing or is the wrong shape which is true of the starboard side which appears to gone a odd shape 

This cut frame needs renewing and this is where the gunwale is broken at this point and it appears the boat was nipped between two other boats and this is likely what broke the gunwale at this point 

When the deck was removed this section of deck beam and Carlin fell to pieces 

The rest of the foredeck appears to be good condition apart from the area around the mast deck beams and the cabin front 

The starboard end of the cabin front deck beam a very odd shape and not a steady camber which it should have and not the camber this deck beam as

First job is to put the cabin frontback into its correct position

Marking off the  pattern on the 18 mm plywood

Then making the plywood fit the boats curves 

Fit the inspection hatch in the bulkhead so you can sort the chain out when it comes in the locker when the boat is finished 

Then glassing in the bulkhead on the aft face of the bulkhead and once thats cured then glass in the forward face of the bulkhead anbd then make a base for the locker and glass that in position as well 

Fitting the fuel and water tanks in the lazarette locker

Fitting the tanks in the lazarette locker  was a tight fit for the fuel tank as it was a very tight fit to go through the lazarette locker opening in the deck and once it was in thew locker there was not a lot of room to move it around in the locker 

The fuel tank was braced around the base and the water tank needed a framework to hold the tank in position as it was a lot lower than the fuel tank and in order to hold it in position it needed to be braced in more places .
