From one clinker boat to another smaller clinker boat

Now coming to the end of one refit it is time to fit out the small clinker dinghy.

The small clinker dinghy now needs its centreboard fitting and other small jobs doing before it can be launched and tested out.

Now that the new transom panel is glued in position the rest of the rebuilding of the structure of interior bracing can take place.

Gluing the first part of the fore and aft bulkhead can be glued into position along the bottom edge before upper edge as its bracing members fitted and glued into position and up the transom to stop the aft edge moving 

The front edge will be braced on both sides once the bottom edge glue as cured and the lower bracing batten is glued into position

The lower edge glued and pressure applied to hold it in position while the glue cures over night then in the morning the rest of the bracing can be fitted  

The starboard side transom panel glued into position and fixed with clamps and a few temporary fixings 

Once this transom panel glue is cured then the rest of the rebuilding of this side can continue with a small panel fitted to the fore and aft bulkhead and the top bracing refitted and then the hull panelling can be started to be dry fitted before refitting 

Keel bolt time again

Now got all the nuts off on the inside, it will be time to put some diesel in the holes to let it run down the space around the bolts to release the bolts from the wood and if it gets to the bottom make a start on the bolts in the iron keel

You always get something in the way to not beable to get over the top of the bolt

Restricted room to be able to swing a hammer to start the bolts off down the holes.

Speedboat repairs

Starting to put back pieces of wood not taking it out anymore, gluing the new panel to reinforce the transom and starting to dry fit the fore and aft bulkhead and cleaning up the area where the new bottom panels are going to be glued in position once the upper bracing is fitted to the bulkhead and along top edge on the transom panel. 

The other side as now got to the end of the rot in the bottom and the area where the new bottom panel is going to be glued to once the transom panel is made and glued in position and a new piece of fore and aft bulkhead is made and strengthen up the fore and aft bulkhead

The Finesse 24 is now sorted apart from the keel bolts which I am have a specialist tool made up to clean the holes where the bolts go though to help in getting out the bolts, so the yacht will be going shortly back to its home.

Using what you have to hand to gain some height under the boat to get at the keel bolt holes and dry fitting the first part of the rebuilding of the transom of the speedboat

Using what you have to hand to gain height to get to the keel bolt holes easier and gaining height to make sure the keel bolts will come out below the boat without digging a hole in the ground  

Gained about 6 inches of height which should be enough to do the job

Dry fitting the first part of the transom rebuilding just got to mix up some epoxy to glue it to new part to the original transom
