Cushions and the galley area dismantled and back at the workshop and the old varnish being removed and sanded back ready for the bulkheads being re-varnished

Now that the cushions are off the boat the work to clean the cabin sides of all the old glue and whats left of the foam can be removed ready for the new cabin side linings to be glued in place once the other work in the cabin is done.

Just got to put the cushions on the workshop racking to the time they are needed to be recovered.

The old galley area now broken don into is many parts and the doors in the boat now removed ready to be stripped back and re-varnished and in some places replaced completely.

The first of the starboard bulkheads being stipped of its old varnish and then in the process of being sanded back to bare wood and have the faded parts sanded back to the original colour. 

So the job so on until we get through all the doors and bulkheads and they are varnished again and they look like new 

 

The cockpit and main cabin tables getting the first coats of Varnish in years and getting the colour back they had when they were first made.

After years of neglect the tables are getting the treatment they need to see them be in the best condition they deserve for the years ahead. 

As with the cockpit table the main cabi table is getting one coat of wood stain and when dried will get the first of 8 coats of varnish to give them the finish they need to stand up to the years use they will have over the next few years.

The first of the 8 coats of varnish this table is going to get over the next few days as the layers are build up until the finish is to a standard they deserve.

The cockpit table as had the first 4 coats and now will start the full strength coats.

 

Starting to remove the old sidelinings on the cabin sides and all the trim panels which is cover the joints in the sidelinings

The side lining came off fairly well in one piece which will make laying out the pieces on the new material a lot easier than having to pattern up new sidelining panels.

Looking a lot barer than it has fr a lot of years. 

One side stripped and the front and now got to get the bulkheads on the starboard side and the galley unit out next so we can strip the starboard side of the last of the cabin side linings

The galley area stripped back of the side lining material and just got to get the bulkheads and galley unit out next so we can get on and sort the hull and cabin linings out  and start to make a change in this cabin area.

 

In this Hardy 25 the water tank is part of the bow section of hull and there is no inspection hatch in the top to inspect or clean out the tank.

The water pump is in the port side locker however it is not fixed down and will need refixing in the port side locker and the water pipes will need replacing as part of the refit.

A few odd sash weights been put in this part of the boat to level the trim of the boat. however, I am nor sure how much these few weights is going to do with changing the trim.

 

The cabin headlining panels down and now be able to see were there are any leaks in the cabin roof and sort out the wiring and make it neater

Having taken down the cabin headlinings it can be seen that in the past there as been a deck/cabin roof leak as some of the headlining panels are rotten in places and will have to be investigated.

With the headlining panels down it can be seen that there as been a lot of changes on the cabin roof with changes to handrails and other deck fittings.

Time to investigate the deckhead for leaks and sort out deck fittings and see if any or all need resealing before the haedlining panels go back up again.

The headlining panels are in a poor condition and in some cases are rotten and will have to be replaced before the panels can be recovered and put back up in position again.

This large panel which is the main panel in the cabin is rotten in several places and is only any good as a pattern to make a new panels as are some of the smaller panels as well.
